Shakefest and PeaceZone – Progressing Peace on an International level

Shakefest in its 4th exciting year! Along with the large variety of dance and culture workshops on offer Shakefest also played host to ‘PeaceZone’ – artists and musicians alike gathering crowds of people willing to become actively involved in progressing Peace on an International level. It was again a great success as students learned Bellydance Floorwork and Balancing, Basic Circus Skills and Rhythm Drum and Bellydance Combinations. Once they were finished Shake’in it to their hearts content, they enjoyed a sumptuous ethnic buffet dinner in the grand ballroom and were treated to the mystical sounds of Shelly playing her harp by the fireside that emanated through the grand hall. Whether you are into reggae or rock, indie or dance there was something at Shakefest for you. This year marked a milestone and major growth as SHAKEFEST in its 4th year welcomed a variety of over 20 dance and culture workshops. Charleville Castle was also pleased to host Tullamore’s own Stagecraft Ireland with their Introduction to Circus Skills and Stilt Walking workshops as well as Wassa Wassa Percussion African Dance and Drum workshops. Wassa Wassa were participants in the 2009 Tullamore St. Patrick’s Day Parade and wowed the street crowds with their energy, moves and vitality.

Peace speakers and open discussions on related issues took place as well as featured artists performing throughout the day and evening such as Reggae legend Erik Noon and the Future Gypsies, Ska band The Bionic Rats, Singer Songwriter Lauren Guillery, Oliver Cole and special guest Leanne Harte, Meteor Award nominee.
