Lets start with dance games and exercises to get us thinking outside the box. Then, learn to create cool rhythms…without any instruments! Discover new ways to make sounds using your entire body, from stamps and shuffles with your feet, to claps and snaps with your hands. Taking inspiration from Irish dance, contemporary, and body percussion, we’ll learn new skills and put together a group dance piece using everyone’s creative input!

MAKE YOUR OWN DRUM WORKSHOP WITH FUINNEAMH DRUM

AGES 10 +

Sunday, 7th of June 2020 | 12 – 2pm

Ballroom, Charleville Castle

€ 30 per child / € 40 per adult / Family rate €120 for 2 adults, 2 children over 10 / Family rate €60 for 1 adult, 1 child over 10 / Family rate €85 for 1 adult and 2 children over 10

NOT TO BE MISSED! An incredible drum making workshop for children over 10 and families brought to you by Fuinneamh Drum (the big communal drum) made out of ship sails.  This workshop will teach you how to create and take home your own drum and drum beater!  The workshop will take at least 2 hours and the  instructions will take some focus, but at the end you will have a wicked drum for life.

The drums we are making are 12″ for adults or older kids and 10″ for younger kids.

The kid’s drums are pre-painted in different colors, but the adults can pick a color themselves and paint their drums.

We offer the option of putting a design on the kids drums which they can do themselves. They can bring a design on an white a4 sheet or pick from some outlines I bring (mostly mandalas). We also make drum beaters if there’s enough time if not I can just make them beforehand and give them out!

Once our drums are complete, how about a fun session trying them out together?
